The Lego Technic 42068 Airport Rescue Vehicle is an airport fire truck, with 6 wheels. It’s a successor of the Lego Technic 8454 Rescue Truck, released in 2003, which is smaller. The style is very nice, the length of the truck is near to 45 cm (without the front water canon). Lots of details are also visible: lights, mirrors, 8 rotating beacons, nice stickers, lots of panels… On the sides of the truck, the gray panels can be opened to place an optional Power Functions “Medium” motor, and the Power Functions Battery block.
The water canon can be oriented and raised. A switch placed on the roof of the truck allow to choose between water canon rotation and water canon raise, then a gear allow animating the selected function. The second part of the water cannon arm can be moved thanks to a gear placed at the bottom of the water canon.
The Lego Technic 42068 doesn’t include Power Function parts, but it’s possible to add a Power Function motor and a battery box. With this addition, the water is be motorized (arm rotation, and the first part of the arm movement).

The Lego Technic 42069 is a large 4×4 with tracks. The vehicle has lots of details, like lights, additional lights on the front bumper, mirrors, steering wheels, seats, antennas, several jerrycans on the roof, tail lights… The doors can be opened, but their fixation point is not common: doors opened like “butterfly doors”. Steering with a gear on the roof (usually called HOG, Hand Of God, for fans) is linked to the front tracks, suspensions for each axle are present. At the front of the vehicle, a winch is present, and the last remaining function is really cool: the height of the car can vary, like the Lego Technic 8297 Off-Roader released in 2008.
Several new panels in new colors appear with this Lego Technic set: purple car mudguard arches, purple curved panel, or new small panels in purple color. Purple Lego Technic parts were been introduced in 2015 with the Lego Technic 42048 Race Kart, and there were no other Lego Technic purple parts produced for the moment. With this Lego Technic 42069, more purple parts are available for builders which design their own vehicles, that’s a good news!

The Lego Technic 42070 is one of the largest trucks ever produced in the Technic products range. The truck replicates an all-terrain tow truck, with 6 (big) wheels, pendular suspensions for the rear axle, steering on the front axle, stabilizers, and tow arm. The Lego Technic 42070 comes with several Power Functions elements, and a transmitter (it’s a remote controlled vehicle).
Due to his architecture (1 Power Functions XL Motor and 1 Power Function Medium motor), we know one of the disappointments of this Lego Technic 42070: the steering doesn’t use a “Power Functions servo motor”, but a classic “Power Function Medium” motor. That’s a little bit more difficult to play with, the front wheels will not return at their neutral point, but with a little bit of practice, it will not be difficult to handle the truck.
2 functions can be operated with the transmitter, but the truck has lots of function: lateral and rear stabilizers, tow arm rotation, winch on the tow arm, tow arm raising. To operate those functions, manual selectors placed on the sides of the truck allow to varying functions. For example, it’s possible to switch from drive and steering to tow arm operation, switch to stabilizers deployment. Personally, I think the functions selector on the truck + 2 channel transmitter is a good choice from the designer. It reminds old vintage radio-controlled vehicles, like the Nikko Winch Flex Mobile).
A big set, with a lot of functions, and new parts in a new color (black curved panels for example, which are visible on wheel arches).
The recommended Retail Price is 250€, but I’m pretty sure it will be cheaper (approximatively 220$/199€).
